About Shinement Chan

The short version

I am Shinement Chan, a certified electrician who has spent 7+ years maintaining the power equipment that keeps critical facilities running — UPS systems, power distribution cabinets, battery banks, and backup power changeover gear. The kind of equipment where “it beeps sometimes” is not an acceptable status report.

Why this site exists

Every week, somewhere in my working life, I watch intelligent people stare at a beeping UPS or a tripped breaker like it is a message from another planet. It is not their fault — the manuals are written for engineers, and most online advice is generic filler written by people who have never pulled a battery cartridge out of anything.

This site is the advice I actually give, written down. Every guide comes from hands-on maintenance work: real failure modes, real diagnostic order, real “check the plug before you buy a battery” experience.

Note: Electrical work is dangerous and regulated. Guides here are educational. Work on your home’s fixed wiring should follow your local code and, where required, be done by a licensed electrician in your jurisdiction.
